Red Crew
Red Crew spent their final week backcountry on the North Umpqua Trail! They dug new trail around a landslide that damaged the existing trail over 10 years ago. The brave crew battled giant rocks and beautified sections of the trail orange crew began last week. What a way to finish out a fantastic session!
Orange Crew
For their final week, Orange Crew will traveled back to the Fremont National Forest to tie together the sections of National Recreation Trail our crews have been working on all session. Thanks to their efforts, and the efforts of other crews, there is now a 9 ½ mile continuous stretch of trail maintained and ready for use.
Yellow Crew
Yellow Crew spent their last week in the Umpqua National Forest maintaining trail in a wilderness area. They hiked many miles to and from the worksite and did a bunch of crosscut saw work! There were many, many down logs on this wilderness trail that the young men of gold crew cut out in saw teams and with pulaskis throughout the week. They also repaired tread and rerouted sections of trail around large root wads.
Blue Crew
The last week of the session took Blue Crew back to the Fremont once again. But there was much more than trail in the plans for them. They built a bridge! The tenacious blue crew placed a single 25’ log across a creek, created a walking surface, and attached railings. The bridge was constructed using natural materials. What a great final project!
